This support group is facilitated by Anna Baxter, LPC, CPCS. Support groups are peer support, not therapeutic services. Attending a support group at Love Positive Counseling does not constitute a therapeutic relationship between attendees and facilitator.

Kink/BDSM Support Group
Ongoing, open group for adults (18+) who regularly engage in or are curious about Kinky/BDSM relationships
As we dabble in new, interesting and sometimes intense sensation experiences in BDSM all kinds of emotions can come up. Additionally communities, polycules, friends groups, munch groups, play groups can all experience intrapersonal conflicts and public events are rarely a helpful location to learn how to talk and feel our ways through. Many therapists and non-kinky friends don’t understand the unique experiences power dynamics (intentional and consensual as well as non-consensual) can create in these complex relationships. Add in social shame regarding our various kinks and getting involved with the kinky/BDSM community can be painful sometimes.
We decided to set up an ongoing support group to provide space for folks to process emotions (happy, sad, angry, the whole spectrum!) related to community events, community wide drama, interpersonal conflicts, and intrapersonal concerns in a supportive space without any active play.
